What is arabic question mark?

The Arabic question mark (؟) is known as the "question mark" or "inverted question mark". It is written at the end of a sentence to indicate a question in written Arabic language.

Unlike the English question mark, the Arabic question mark is written above the sentence instead of at the end. It is also written in the opposite direction as compared to the English question mark, i.e. from right to left.

The Arabic question mark was first used in the 8th century and was adopted from the Syriac language. It is commonly used in Arabic, Persian, Urdu and other languages that use the Arabic script.

In Arabic typography, the question mark is also commonly used in combination with other Arabic punctuation marks such as the comma, full stop and exclamation mark.
